An acoustic doppler current profiler (ADCP) is used to measure how fast water is moving in Swan Island Basin

Sampling completed

Environmental samples have been collected in the Swan Island Basin Project Area from riverbanks, sediments, and stormwater. In addition, hydrodynamic, geotechnical, and habitat conditions were studied. The information gathered will be used to design the remedy for the Swan Island Basin Project Area.

2,340 Total Samples Collected

  • 267 Sediment Cores – over 1,000 samples
  • 311 Soil Cores
  • 420 riverbank samples
  • 33 stormwater samples
  • 26 stormwater solids samples

Pre-Design Investigation

Using environmental samples taken in 2022 and 2023 A work plan and evaluation report for the Swan Island Basin area were completed.

Basis of Design Report

The Basis of Design report identified remedial technologies and how they may be used in the cleanup. It also includes a conceptual site model and evaluates the design will consider constructability, structural, flood and climate change, and habitat impacts.
